Preschool Registration & Enrolment
Overview
Bowen Island Preschool is licensed for 20 children per class. However, we typically cap the classes at 18 for 4-year olds, and 16 for 3-year olds. We do this to create the best possible experience for the children, and for our teachers.
Registration
Registration for the 2011-2012 school year (starting September 2011) opens soon.
Parents of children who are presently enrolled in Bowen Island Preschool are considered to be ‘returning’.
An Open House will be held on Saturday, February 26th, at which time registration will be open to all parents of children who will be eligible for Preschool in September. Children may begin Preschool if they will turn three years old by December 31 of the year in which they enrol.
Ten days prior to the Open House, returning parents are given the opportunity to register their children. This includes both children who are returning for a second or third year of Preschool, and eligible siblings of children presently enrolled. These registrations will be received on a first come, first served basis.
At 4 pm on the afternoon of the Friday before the Open House, registration for returning parents is closed. When registration resumes at the Open House, returning parents who have not taken advantage of the opportunity to register early will be on the same footing as new parents.
Adults may register no more than one child in addition to their own (that is, they may register for one friend who is unable to be at the Centre).
After the Open House, registration is ongoing. Applications are received on a first come, first served basis. The date and time are written on each registration form as it is received. Registration forms must be given directly to a Centre staff member.
