Preschool Wait List
Once the classes are filled, the Preschool will maintain a waitlist. This waitlist is only for spaces that may become available during the coming year. It does not give any standing for the following year.
The Preschool reserves the right to accept children into the classes in such a way as to balance the group’s composition, regardless of the order in which applications have been received.
For instance, if a class with 16 spaces receives ten consecutive applications for boys, the teachers may decide to reserve the remainder of the space for girls, even if the eleventh applicant is a boy. We have learned that classes heavily skewed to one or another gender do not function as well as those with a more even division.
Again, We recognize that if circumstances prompt us to implement this policy it may distress any parents whose children are held back, but we feel compelled to protect the quality of the program.
From the Open House onward, the Preschool accepts applications – but only for the current and coming year.
Switching classes
Two children who are enrolled in full classes may switch places ‘in front of’ the waitlist.
A child in one class may not switch into another one ‘in front of’ a child at the top of the waitlist for that class (unless the child of the waitlist is to be held back based on group composition).
Staff
Staff members are afforded the registration opportunity granted to ‘returning parents’.
The Preschool, its Waitlists and the Community Daycare and The After School Club
Enrolment in the Preschool, or a place on the Preschool’s waitlist, does not give any standing with respect to the Daycare or The After School Club.
