Without our skilled, dedicated staff, Bowen Children’s Centre would come to a grinding halt. Sure, we’ve got the fabulous building, the terrific multi-level playground (with water features for cool summer fun), the colourful flower garden, the outstanding equipment and materials. And the island’s young families have an abundance of charming children in need of care. But it’s our team of professionals, each of whom possesses a special set of talents (and – and this is crucial – a sense of humour), that makes this place hum.
Bowen Island Preschool’s program is conceived and delivered by two teachers who share the lead role, supported by an assistant teacher.
The Community Daycare’s program is guided by a lead coordinator, supported by an assistant coordinator and several program assistants. Many of the administrative tasks associated with this program are handled by the lead coordinator. The assistant coordinator guides the curriculum.
The After School Club’s program is in the hands of its coordinator, who typically works on her own. On days with higher enrollment, she is supported by an assistant.
The Centre’s executive director is responsible for the general administration of the Centre, including finances, overseeing the core programs, human resources, regulatory compliance, building maintenance, relationships with other organizations, professional development for staff, workshops and seminars for the community’s parents, and other such operational components of this vibrant non-profit Society. When it comes to financial issues, she works closely with the Centre’s bookkeeper. The executive director reports to the Centre’s board of directors.
